The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred text of India that contains the essence of all of the scriptures. When we practice yoga asana we are working to control the mind and bring happiness and healing on all levels. If you are like me than you love the feeling you get from yoga! Those few hours of happiness were not enough for me. I then began to chant lots of mantra. Mantras are sets of sanskrit words that can be repeated silently for peace of mind and creating more harmony in your life. Even with having this peace of mind I was still making mistakes in my actions, and I was not able to know how to change my habits to support these happiness while living in the world. This is where the Bhagavad Gita comes in. This teaches us the exact skills we need to grow our happiness and progress in life!
The Bhagavad Gita is a set of stanzas in Sanskrit. There are 18 chapters, divided into 3 sections of 6 chapters each. We can go through the different sections, picking out key stanzas and learning what is actually being taught. We then can discuss how this applies to your life individually! This is why it is great to study the Bhagavad Gita. Its great to study this book with someone who has studied it for many years and had the transmission from monks in India. This knowledge is a living knowledge and along with the head knowledge we need the heart knowledge and the consciousness shift.
